Monte-Carlo vs Riviera CC |
Result: Won, Monte Carlo won the toss and batted first:
Monte carlo were cruising at 2/77 when they suffered a huge batting collapse, to be 8/99 looking in all sorts of trouble.
Then two old stalwarts in Nick Thomas and Gilbert Clark stepped up to the mat and managed to bat sensibly in a great partnership worth 64 runs to enable us to make 164.
A competitive total which we thought might give us a chance in winning this game.
Batting contributions were as follows: Bristow 37, Thomas 23 and Clark 31* who all batted very very well.
Riviera batted second final total 146.
On the Bowling front for Monte-Carlo, Parnell 3/19 , Thomas 3/42 off their respective 7 overs each. For a change we held our catches, bowled a steady line which enabled us to win this match.
A great result which takes us into the Grand Final.
Today we welcomed a guest player in Richard Kneller who played with the club in the 1990s and kept wickets wonderfully all day. It was wonderful to have Richard in the team and i know he had a great day.
It was a fantastic day had by all, with Monte Carlo winners by 18 runs.

Monte-Carlo vs Riviera CC @ St. Vallier |
Result: Won, The day started badly when we found out at 9.30am that our beloved Captain was not to play in the game as he was stranded in the United Kingdom as a result of the flights chaos at Heathorw Airport. Undeterred, onwards we went, Ed Porter stood in as Captain and his first decisive moment was when he won the toss. Monte-Carlo won the toss and we decided to bat first.
We managed a respectable 195 in total , being bowled out in the last over.
Our Top Scorers were: Harry Bristow 37 , Neil Savage 37 and Terry Allen 26 being the main contributors, with solid efforts from Muneeb 12 and Gilbert Clark 18.
Gilbert's batting effort was cut short after being struck a blow on the face causing him to go to hospital for treatment which resulted in 4 stitches.
Captain Porter in a wonderfully calculated move handed the new ball to the old stager in Terry Allen and the young buck Christian Everson and after the spells were completed, Riveria were out the game being reduced to 4/22 of 14 overs.
We then faced some spirited resistance as the score then moved to 86, before Yaspal one of the other young bowlers produced two wonderful consecutive deliveries, and Riviera slumped to 6/86.
To our surprise Gilbert returned to the field to assume his lead role as our main strike bowler and proceeded to remove the remaining batsmen to allow us to dismiss Riviera for 129.
Bowling for Monte Carlo: Clark 3/12 , Allen 2/11 , Everson 2/14 ,Bristow 1/15 and Yaspal 2/31.
Monte Carlo finished as the winners by 66 runs.
Man of the Match , without doubt the old man of the team , Terry Allen for his wonderfully crafted 26 and a fine bowling spell of 7 overs 3 maidens, 2 wickets for 11 runs.
Says it all doesn't it!!
A fantastic effort from all concerned, well done!!
That's the League season over then and thanks to everyone for all there help during it.

Monte-Carlo vs Entrecasteaux @ Entrecasteaux |
Result: Lost, Entrescasteaux won the toss and batted first
Entrecasteaux, 3/289 (40 overs). The best bowling figures from Monte Carlo , Nick Thomas 2/53 of his 8 overs. We unfortunately dropped too many catches and bowled poorly which allowed them to gather such a huge score.
Monte-Carlo, 8/229. Mark Obrien, 46 ,Neil Savage 46 * , Shea Parnell 34 and Ed Porter 28, all good scores but not the huge one gathered which would allow us to challenge such a high chase that they presented.
Man of the Match - Mark Obrien.

Monte-Carlo vs Entrecasteaux @ Entrecasteaux |
Result: Lost, Entrescasteaux won the toss on a hot hot hot day and elected to bat first.
Unfortunately or fielding ala our catching let us down and players who had two and three chances managed to get them to a good
total after we had them 3/60. We did very well at the end of the innings though still despite our catching to hold
Entrescasteaux to 7/234 off their 35 overs, a total we thought we could achieve.
On the bowling front Mark Obrien bowled brilliantly 3/21 off his 7 overs well supported by Terry Allen, 2/48 off his 7
overs.
We didn't get the start we wanted unfortunately and slumped to 5/60 , finally reaching the total of 154. Ed porter batted very
well for his 42, Neil Savage was 34* , Mark Obrien 20. But the highlight of the game was the magnificent 6 hit by Malik that
went sailing over the square leg boundary into the bush land and he finished making a wonderful cameo of 16 including that
magnificent shot.
A good day by all, however we were just not good enough.
Man of the Match Mark Obrien. |
